 Overview
The Mitsubishi Outlander is the sibling vehicle to the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport; the latter vehicle has a 105.1-inch wheelbase and its body length is 169.1-inches. Thus, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is 15-inches shorter than the Outlander. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is roughly the same size as the Nissan Juke and the Mini Countryman, two of its competitors. The Outlander Sport comes with all-wheel-drive or front wheel drive configurations. The feature list are spectacular. Specific inclusions like panoramic glass roofing; Xenon headlights, power steering, plastic front fenders, regenerative braking, and Bluetooth connectivity are nice additions. The Outlander Sport is a novel SUV with a C-platform common in the Outlander and the Lancer. The Outlander Sport shares a 2.4 Liter four-cylinder motor with the Lancer as well. The motor is married to a five speed manual tranny or a CVT. The 2.0-engine can achieve 31 miles per gallon on the highway. It is an attractive SUV that weighs 3042 pounds in all. The 2.0-motor generates 140 hp and 145 foot-pound of torque. The latter statistics prove modest when compared to the competition.

Benefits of Driving a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Utility Crossover

The all-new Outlander has a lot of features for its price bracket and will give its rival, the new Kia Sorrento, a run for its money. Gas mileage is pretty good too, with the base-level ES turning in 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Even the 7-passenger XLS equipped with all-wheel drive gets 18 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway.

What's new for 2010?

The 2010 Outlander got a complete refresh, most obviously in its exterior redesign. The massive 'jet fighter' grille is in line with Mitsubishi's new design language, also seen on the super sporty Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The bumper, mirrors, fenders, hood and headlights all got a new, sportier look to match. The sport styling continues inside, with new available aluminum racing-style pedals. The fuel economy, all-wheel drive, and technology features all got an upgrade, too.

Model Review

The Mitsubishi Outlander has two available engines: a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder making 168 hp, available in the ES and SE trim levels, and a 3.0-liter V6 making 230 hp in the XLS and GT trims. The 4-cylinder is mated to a CVT transmission, while the V6 uses a 6-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. The SE, XLS and GT also have standard magnesium paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
